President's Message

That's What It’s All About

So how’s business?

There seems to be a lot of doom and gloom talk going around. Sure, the economy is not great, plant volume is down, and people are uneasy about what’s happening.

There has been a lot happening in our region, and  PDCA has been active in many fronts.
There have been the activities  you are accustomed to seeing –  seminars with, for instance, cleaners learning some basic maintenance, preparation for our biannual trade show, or folks getting together to network, hang out together and, of course, pick each other’s brains.
And then there is the behind the scenes activity. Those are things that your company actually depends on for survival in today’s world. It’s dealing with governments, regulatory bodies, agencies that can help your business or shut you down.
Just take a look at what  PDCA has been involved in in just the last month:
            • Assuring that the federally required perc registration forms are clear, easy to fill in, and supported with explanations of the technicalities
            • Seeing that all cleaners in our area receive them so that nobody can slip under the radar screen and have an unfair advantage
            • Participating in a national conference of small business environmental assistance groups, showcasing how drycleaners work to meet  standards
            • Taking the lead in trying to modify new Philadelphia proposed regulations, in order to save the businesses in that city
This is what association membership is all about. It teaches, expands your horizons, and, most of all, protects your interests.
