Peau de Soie

Peau de soie is a heavy weight satin weave silk fabric. It is commonly used in wedding gowns and evening wear. The precautions for cleaning and stain removal would be the same we use for all silk fabrics Do not rub the fabric while wet because this will result in chafing or a chalky appearance.

Remember to test for colorfastness before using any stain removal agent. Stain removal should be performed on the backside of the satin fabric. Stain removal conducted on the front or face of the fabric may cause damage to the long float yarns. Remember to take all the other components of the garment into consideration when determining how best to handle it in cleaning. Press on drycleaning hot head or hand iron to prevent impressions.
